The word “yoga” is often translated from Sanskrit as “union.”
Traditionally, yoga encompasses:
a. a life philosophy
b. a set of physical postures (asana)
c. breathing purification exercises (pranayama)
d. meditation
It can be thought of as a physical, mental and spiritual system that addresses a person as a whole, on all levels. It focuses on ease of flow (this can refer to mind, body and connection to the universe) and works to remove obstacles to flow.
